That’s a tough one, to be honest, because I moved there @ the top of 2020, and moved mid-2021. I can’t fairly assess what it’s like to live there during “normal” times. But the time I was there — I felt it was a really nice, enjoyable city to live in.
Now, and I’m super biased because I grew up there, I think it is very difficult to live somewhere that out-satisfies you like NY; so long as the city is not killing you financially, emotionally, etc., I think the towns is far more enjoyable than other places to live. But that’s a subjective point of view.
For what it’s worth, I don’t compare the two places. Apples / oranges.
that’s so fair, there’s always so much going on in new york and there’s really a neighborhood for just about anyone to enjoy. a lovely melting pot of all cultures.
on the flip side, i also love how small town Austin feels. everything is so quirky, but people usually call it a transit city rather than somewhere you stay to actually settle down.
Love that little quirky, weird city. Used to live there for a little bit.
i love it and that’s so cool. i’ve been debating eventually moving there from new york. how’d you like living there?

i appreciate your response for both :)
Every place has its package of pros + cons. Really all depends on, depending on phase of life, what package you okay with.
My only recommendation is to try and spend a good amount of time in Austin (anywhere, really) before committing.
Anywhere feels amazing if you only spend a weekend or week there lol.
No problem!
Have a great time in Austin!
thank you so much, Jo!!! this letter was scheduled in advance. i had such a lovely time :)
