wanna grab matcha?
sending you 7 spots in nyc before you can say no :)
That’s my version of “how are you doing, really?”
It’s never only about the matcha, it’s also about catching up or giving myself an excuse to step away from my computer screen for twenty minutes.
Sometimes it’s with a friend, sometimes it’s solo, but it’s always when I need a reset.
Here are a few places i tried or was recommended. I haven’t tried them all yet, but we can experience some together :)

the list
Matchaful- i’ve been a regular here and i order the same thing every single time: (hot) earth glow matcha. sometimes matcha can taste super grassy, but earth glow is packed flavor. it’s made with hikari ceremonial matcha, blue spirulina, and madagascar vanilla bean, and combined with other ingredients like taro, butterfly pea flower, and oat milk. The blue spirulina provides a vibrant, earthy color, while the vanilla bean adds a warm sweetness. truly feels like a warm hug.
Blank Street- i debated adding Blank Street to the list because it’s not a high ranking of favorites to me, but it is a place i would take you to see if it would be one of your favorites. out of all their drinks right now, i recommend ordering the iced daydream matcha, (but honestly, i like their coffee more than their matcha).
Mandy Bean Specialty Coffee- right now, this is my favorite. i order a hot vanilla matcha latte with oat milk. if you’re ever outside of the city, i would 100% recommend.
12 Matcha (on my radar)- looks like a beautiful sanctuary based around matcha drinks, using their own charcoal-based water filtration system to make sure every cup tastes as amazing and clean as possible. along with your matcha, you can grab pastries like a slice of matcha cheesecake, or one of their tea-based ice creams. this has been on my list for a while and i plan on visiting this week :)
Sorate (on my radar)- specializes in high-quality japanese teas, with a menu that leans into simplicity. their matcha is known for its smooth, almost silky flavor profile, and many people go specifically for the serene, minimalist atmosphere.
Mika’s Direction (on my radar) - Mika’s was a unique spot because they allow you to choose the flavor profile of the ceremonial grade matcha powder that you want in your latte and they make it in front of you. a classic internet favorite is their strawberry matcha.
Kijtora (on my radar)- i heard Kijtora feels like stepping into a tiny Japanese corner café. they’re best known for their viral strawberry matcha, but the menu has a mix of fun matcha twists.
spotlight: Meadow Lane Grocer

A small love note to Meadow Lane Grocer in Tribeca: The owner, Sammy Nussdorf (@BrokebackContessa on TikTok) has been documenting the behind-the-scenes of building of this space for over a year, and stepping into it now feels like walking into someone’s dream finally made real.
It’s warm, intentional, and somehow both elevated and a little comforting. A full review is coming, but for now just know this: I will be returning specifically for the matcha. It’s that good.

🍵🍵🍵🍵 i drink matchaful’s hikari single origin at home. it’s the only subscription i care about. 🥰
