The holidays aren’t easy for everyone.

They can hold joy and exhaustion, love and loss, all at once (proof that the heart was never meant for simplicity).

So if this season feels a little heavier than usual, that’s okay. Please remember to be kind to yourself.

I wanted to send something really simple: a few comfort meals.

No expectations, no big reflections, just food that might feel warm and familiar :)

Mighty Quinns, Felice, Ruby's & Daily Provisions

the list:

Mighty Quinn’s BBQ

Spicy chicken, mac & cheese, baked beans (messy in the best way). I love this BBQ spot. The mac & cheese is so good. Trust.

Ruby’s Café

My forever favorite. The gluten-free pasta and the fries with truffle aioli dip are always my go-to. I’ve been to almost all of their locations in the city and never had a bad meal.

Felice

I easily fell in love with Felice’s pasta. There’s nothing like a quiet table and food that does exactly what comfort food should do: make you warm and cozy on the inside.

Daily Provisions

I love the cinnamon crullers here. Golden, crisp on the outside and impossibly soft on the inside. I always grab one when I want a sweet treat.

Miss Lily’s (on my list)

I haven’t been yet, but I’ve heard the oxtails, the jerk chicken and plantains are the move. I’m a huge fan of Caribbean food.

Jamrock Jerk NYC

I used to eat this back in college. Everything about it feels like the auntie’s cooked it themselves. My go-to order is the oxtail with rice & peas w/ jamaican pineapple drink.

Halal Cart (any legit one, but especially 53rd & 6th)

It’s 2am, you’re tired, and a chicken over rice with white sauce will fix 80% of your problems. Soooo good.

Hajji’s Blue Sky Deli (Harlem) - also on my list

Honestly, you have to try a classic chopped cheese. It’s not a trend; it’s a New York rite of passage. They say Hajji’s in Harlem is where it started. Might as well go to the source :)
